The club wishes to remind members that, as a result of a proposition put to the 2009 AGM which was approved by the membership, accumulated years of continuous renting of a club mooring ceased to be the sole criteria for allocating an upgraded mooring to an existing renter. The exact wording within the moorings rules under the heading “Allocation” is:- “...........moorings are allocated to members by the Moorings Officer in accordance with a set of guidelines that are applied at the discretion of the Moorings Officer. These are as follows but are not in any order of precedence. A) Suitability of boat (eg boat is not too long for the space available). B) Years of continuous membership, C) Years of continuous holding of a mooring, D) Contribution/Participation in club affairs.” That section concludes with “The concept of having a particular mooring for an extended period of years should not be taken for granted.”
Mooring holders are recommended to read and observe the recommendations contained in:-
https://www.gov.uk/owning-a-boat/safety-at-sea
The requirement to have valid insurance for your boat whilst on one of our moorings is a requirement set out in the BAC moorings rules as well as being a condition imposed on the club as a result of the harbour company leasing to us all the moorings that we occupy.
The content of https://www.gov.uk/owning-a-boat/insurance which states that insurance for leisure craft is not required by national legislation is overridden by the above.
We would welcome applications from non-boat owning anglers wishing to become members. From 1st Nov 2021, lady membership is free but still needing to pay £2 if wishing to enter annual specimen sweep. Application forms available via the downloads section.
Mooring holders are permitted to store one dinghy within the club compound in the designated storage racks. (This dinghy must be within size restrictions)
